beating up the French!

| Ucowson presents traditional London Pie 'n' Mash
with Liquor! For some of us, like many that might be visiting this web site, we
are fanatical to the point of being obsessed with traditional Pie 'n’ Mash served
with the tasty parsley gravy known as 'liquor’. For some of us it’s something
that we have grown up with and still love so much. Memory food! |

Travelling to London from Brighton to get a fix every now and then can be annoying,
although it’s nice when you can get up there. But what do you do if you can’t
get the time to travel up to the smoke? We thought it would be great if you could get it
locally for those times in between the London trips!
The Diner is a traditional English cafe situated in Montefiore Road in
Hove, near the Seven Dials area. The cafe has a large varied menu for good breakfasts and
lunches in nice traditional surroundings. We, under the banner of 'Ucowson’, have
persuaded the owner to put traditional Pie 'n’ Mash with Liquor on the menu, to
either eat in the cafe or to take away.
Ok, so it’s a cafe and not the tiled Victorian 'Eel Pie and Mash Houses’ we
know, but it’s a start - we may only be a small outpost 50 miles south of London in
the wilderness, but hey - small steps!
Apart from being able to get it on the menu, we’ve already had one dedicated Pie
'n’ Mash evening and we hope to have more in the future, maybe even one per month, so
